“Getting The Right Tryptophan
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid used in the synthesis of Melatonin and the neurotransmitter involved in mood; Serotonin. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland within the brain that regulates your circadian rhythm (your body’s own clock which is roughly a 24-hour cycle, and is mostly dependent on light and darkness). Tryptophan is also a precursor to Niacin or Vitamin B3, which also plays a role in sleep, stress reduction and energy. Increasing Tryptophan rich foods will help improve sleep and reduce incidences of insomnia.
Food sources of Tryptophan include hormone free, grass fed beef, cottage cheese, bananas, legumes, lentils, seeds, oats, and rice.”
